Top: About four miles into the ride and just past the Otay lakes is already a "Welcome to Jamul" sign even though you are still at least 12 miles from the small rural town. Below: All of these roads have very little traffic. On some, like Lyons Valley Road or Honey Springs Road, you may get passed by 6 cars for the next 6 to 7 miles. Out of these 3 to 4 of them will be Border Patrol vehicles. They are everywhere. This one is unusual as it is a sedan. Almost all are four-wheel drive trucks or jeeps as they also patrol the many dirt roads and trails in the area. Not good for mountain bikers as I have seen the BP drive down the dirt roads like they were in the Baja 500 race.
