Cruisin the Conejo Century May 8, 2010
Top: The first big climb started up Mulholland
road named after this famous motorcyclist hangout and ride destination,
the Rock Store Cafe. The climb was the longest at about 3 1/2 miles
at 8% gradient average, with a couple of sections at 11%. The last mile
was at 9% to the top. A very scenic climb with hairpins and rock overhangs.
Below: the view from the top of Rock Store climb. This is the same climb
that the pros will face in a couple of weeks when they ride Stage 8
of the Tour of California on May 23, that also starts and finishes in
Thousand Oaks. |
