Our next destination was Parkhotel Wasserschloss Anholt, very close to the Holland border. The castle was first built by William I, prince-bischop of Utrecht in 1169. It was expanded in 1645 by the Prince of Salm-Salm.

Below: Wasserschloss Anholt has a drawbridge at the only entrance. The right side has been converted into a world-class hotel, the left side is a museum. The castle houses an extensive art collection by Dutch masters and fine 17th century porcelain from china.
