Solvang Century 2009
Top: After Dominion Road we turn onto Foxen Canyon
which is the most scenic part of the entire century ride. Most of the
23 miles of Foxen Canyon appears nice and flat with plenty of bucolic
scenery to relax your brain as you pedal along. However it is all at
a very gradual uphill grade to where after a while you look down at
your bike computer and wonder "Why am I only going 12 mph?"
There are several uphill sections that look like they should be easy
and are quite difficult as many riders where walking their bikes at
this point, about 80 miles into the ride. Bottom: typical oak tree scenery.
California poppies and indian paint brush were just starting to come
out. Next month should be a very nice time to come here to ride and
take pictures. |
