EL TOUR DE TUCSON 109 Mile ride

<br

Top: Compare this pic with the one earlier. They really look too fresh to have ridden the 109. However, when you take the grand tour of all rest stops, the ride may not be as stressful as for the rest of us who only stop once or twice. the only sign of the ride is Kristina's dirty thumb.
Bottom: Me and my Team Dolce team mate Kristina right after her finish. My time was 6:01:47 good for 1137th place overall. My team mate finished just in time to avoid having to place lights on her bike. The winner was a Mexican pro who finished at 4:20:34 along with his 3 team mates. A very good ride. For you old guys out there, the first 60+ rider was cycling legend 61 year old John Howard of Encinitas CA, who finished in 49th place with a time of 4:32. Howard has been on 3 Olympic teams, won the Ironman triathlon and Race Across America and holds the land speed record on a bike at 152mph set in 1985 behind a racecar at Bonneville. The oldest finishers was a 77 year old at 6:15 and a 79 year old at 7:19. The youngest solo rider was a 12 year old girl at 6:41 and a 10 year old boy at 7:49. The youngest on a tandem was an 8 year old riding with his dad and they finished in 7:06. Until next year - keep riding.
